Do Republicans Realize That They Are Republicans?

It used to be that Republicans stood for free-market, conservative principles, strong defense and foreign policy, lower taxes, and smaller government.

The key words here are “used to be”.

Unfortunately, Congressional Republicans appear to have forgotten the tenets of successful Republican policies. After seven years and 60+ votes to ‘repeal and replace’ Obamacare, Congressional Republicans came up with three terrible plans, none of which made sense, fixed the problems, or passed. After eight years of left-leaning Obama policies where his administration became the first in modern history to not have a single year of 3% GDP, the Republicans keep spending and have yet to pass business-friendly tax cuts and legislation.

Congressional Republicans have squandered a great opportunity to once again show America the free-market, conservative policies work. They have ruined their reputation to repeal and replace Obamacare. And by getting nothing done, they are ruining their chances for winning even more seats in the 2018 elections where the Democrats have 23 Senators up for election – 10 of which are in states that President Trump won by double digits.

Stated differently, since 2010, the Democratic Party has lost over 1,200 seats at all levels of government, many because of dislike for Liberal policies. So by simply supporting both the president’s agenda and traditional Republican policies, Congressional Republicans would have had a lock on gaining seats in the next election.

But because of their inaction, not only are Republican gains at risk, but many Congressional Republicans may even find themselves voted out of office. What do you think?
